Only one out of eleven Christians has the Gift of Evangelism.

What are the other ten supposed to do? Try this:

Reach Out to Those You Love

“One of the two who heard John speak and followed Jesus was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. He first found his own brother Simon and ... he brought him to Jesus.” [John 1:40-42a ESV]

Be An Andrew is a simple, five-step method. It acknowledges that evangelism is a shared ministry in the Body of Christ. When you invite those you care for into a living fellowship of Christians remember that Christ dwells in the midst of his people and you are ultimately inviting them to meet Him.

1. Follow Your Heart. Whom do you care for? Ask the Lord if you need to expand your circle of concern. He may have someone that He wants you to reach out to.

2. Pray! Make a short list and pray for them regularly. When we pray for others we are really responding to God’s love for them and His grace is already reaching out to them.

3. Take Courage! Look for the right opportunity. Be responsive to the Holy Spirit and be ready to step out, or step back, as He leads, but keep praying.

4. Invite them to Church on Sunday or to one of the events that can introduce them to your brothers and sisters in the Body of Christ. Remember that Christ dwells in the midst of his people.

5. Follow-up with care and concern, and encourage them as they draw nearer to Christ.

Jesus has given a powerful promise to His disciples, “Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me.” [Matthew 10:40] As those whom you care for are drawn into the fellowship of the Body of Christ they will, through love, prayer, and the power of the Gospel, meet the Christ who calls them to Himself.
