ANGLICAN COMMUNION NEWS
The "Eames Report," officially named "The Windsor Report" was issued the week following our convention. The report accepts as its prior basis the standard of traditional morality affirmed by the last Lambeth Convention of all the bishops of the Church. Our Diocesan Canon on Moral Standards conforms to that teaching. 1. In rather British language, the report called for all those who participated in the "consecration" of Gene Robinson to express their regret and place a moratorium on any further such ordinations or consecrations, and on any same sex marriages. Some representatives of the Eames Commission have indicated since the report was issued that regret is a polite way of expressing something more like repentance, rather than just saying "I regret that you are upset by what has happened." The report made it clear that Gene Robinson has been irregularly consecrated without heed to the larger Anglican Communion and that he should not be invited to meetings of the Anglican Communion. The report made it clear that failure to cooperate with the recommendations of the Windsor Report will be understood, in affect, as a declaration that one is not interested in remaining within the Anglican Communion. While giving alternate ways of dealing with the problem the Eames Commission has said the real danger is that a minority of the Anglican Communion "will not choose to walk together. Should the call to halt and find ways of continuing in our present communion not be heeded, then we shall have to begin to learn to walk apart"
