The
Master's Plan Update
by
Cheryl McCracken, Capital Campaign Chairman
Our church is in the midst of an exciting time.
It has been almost two years since the Vestry
formed a Building Committee to research and
make recommendations on how we might meet the
growing needs of our church.
Upon
reviewing all the options, the Vestry authorized
the Building Committee to go forward with the
Capital Campaign, supporting the Master Plan
as presented by the architect. Today we are
in the midst of the capital campaign which will
determine the extent of that expansion, and
which undoubtedly will take us in a new direction.
Here are the areas we are considering building
or updating and the reasons why:
* A new Worship space will free up our present
sanctuary to serve as a multipurpose parish
hall, which can be used for meeting space, youth
activities, and adult Sunday School.
* The present building can be remodeled to expand
the nursery by 50%, providing additional Sunday
School and meeting space by reworking the storage
& vesting room, sacristy and office areas.
* The large new narthex will serve as a warm
and inviting gathering area, as well providing
overflow from the sanctuary or the parish hall.
This process has truly been a church-wide endeavor.
Countless hours have been given by over 75 members
who have served on committees, stuffed envelopes,
made phone calls, hosted dinners and coffees,
and above all, have devoted themselves to prayer
about the Master’s Plan. Approximately 90 attended
informational coffees and others attended advance
commitment dinners in a further show of support.
Every
effort has been made to provide all the information
needed to keep our church family informed and
involved in every step of the way. We now eagerly
anticipate new beginnings as we move forward.
Please
join in our celebration on Commitment Sunday,
April 2.
